Hey everyone, I posted this a while ago. I built this over the course of a year and a half. Knowing all I know now after finishing this project I know that I could probably do this in a few months. I’m not a professional carpenter, I’m a cinematographer. ( I’m the DP of “The Amazing Race”)
I wanted to say thank you to all of you that commented on it before. The good and the bad. I read all the notes about how it’s unsafe and needs a hand rail. Thankfully after a year of use no one has fallen down it or felt like they were going to. It’s really comfortable and while it looks like you might slip a leg through the spaces it would be all but an acrobatic accident for that to happen. The central post is real easy to hold on to as it was designed. I do know I’ll have to add a handrail on the wall if I ever sell the house.
Also after a year none of the wood has expanded and cracked like some of you had thought it would. It’s super solid. Honestly it’s the only part of my house that doesn’t creak. ( it’s over 90years old)
I’m reposting it just to get opinions on how much something like this should cost. I’ve gotten some quotes for things around my house and have been blown away by how high they are. Simple things like a small concrete flowerbed wall I was quoted $7k to do.
Anyway, I’d love to hear any thoughts on the pricing subject. Thanks to everyone again.
