I'm doing research for my first rifle, and I've narrowed it down to a 300blk sbr/pistol. Home defense, fun range days, subsonics and a can, all the typical stuff.
What I really want is the Rattler LT, but it's a good chunk of change. 2.5k as of writing this, when it's even in stock. If I'm going to buy a gun in that price range, it's going to be the rattler.
Trying to be a bit more responsible, or at least economical, I was looking at the Q Sugar Weasel. It lacks some of the features that draw me to the Rattler, but it's a grand cheaper. 1.5k as of right now.
But this got me thinking: if I'm going to compromise to save some money, why not go all the way? I could get a PSA in the configuration I want for roughly 600-700, shipped, taxed, transferred, with some budget furniture to boot.
So my question is; for a casual shooter, is a Q really more than twice as good as a PSA, and is a rattler really more than three times better? The recent reviews for these PSA rifles are positive. They work, they're cheap, you get what you pay for. The biggest complaints I've seen against the Q and Sig is that they are overpriced. That you are paying a brand tax, but for sure getting a well made gun. I am a firm believer in "buy once cry once" but is it really worth the extra 1-2k?
Just to clarify, I have the disposable income, it's just a new feeling to me to drop this much money all at once on something that isn't an absolute necessity.
