Should I upgrade my lens or camera?

A few years ago, I started buying camera equipment to photograph my girls playing sports. One plays soccer (outdoor) and the other plays volleyball (indoor). I started with the EOS R7 and a 18-150mm f3.5-6.3. It was a serviceable starter pack, but it struggled getting shots on the large soccer fields and in the low light of the indoor volleyball games. I added a 100-400mm f5.6-8 lens to help with the distance on the soccer fields. Those worked well for while, and I recently upgraded to a 70-200mm f2.8 lens for better performance indoors (and outdoors) which is amazing. The only downside is that I can’t zoom out far enough on some of the volleyball shots to capture the full action. When I bought the R7, I didn’t understand what the cropped sensor meant and was more focused on the speed for action shots without breaking the bank on my first camera.

So now I’m looking for another upgrade and wasn’t sure if I should go with the R5 mark ii for the higher megapixel and non-cropped sensor which will give me a wider frame on close shots or a lens with a closer zoom like the 24-70mm f2.8 or 24-105mm f2.8. This is mainly to get better action shots in volleyball when court side and maybe portraits so I don’t have to stand 20 yards away. Any advice is appreciated since I’m still a relative novice. Thank you.
