I'm from Coeburn and I work as a paralegal in Wise. I've been writing Appalachian literary fiction set in the county I grew up in — the courthouse in Wise, the IGA in Coeburn, Heritage Hall, Flag Rock, the hollers and ridge roads between Tacoma and the coalfields.

Binding Creek is about a woman who comes home to a dying holler and falls in love with a man the mountain has been keeping since 1952. Firedamp Mountain is about a deputy clerk who hears the dead in the stone and discovers that a hundred-year family bargain was built on a lie.

I printed these on my own printer and bound them with suede cord for my mom and my best friend.

Currently querying agents for traditional publication. Just wanted to share with people who might recognize the places.
