So now that Linux has official FSR 4 support for RDNA 3 through the mesa drivers but Windows still doesn't even with the newest drivers update I have a theory.
Maybe the reason that they haven't been released for Windows is because of Xbox?
Hear me out. We know that PSSR is essentially just FSR 4 INT8 optimized to run on the PlayStation 5's RDNA 3 graphics and there have been rumors that the reason it hasn't been released officially is because Sony is blocking it. A lot of people quickly dismiss this though because they see no reason for Sony to do this since Sony isn't directly in competition with PC. But they are in direct competition with Xbox. The Xbox Series X uses the same RDNA 2 graphics as the base PS5 and since it runs on Windows NT it would immediately be able to use most software and drivers compatible with Windows 11. I'm sure that Xbox will also have their own version of it eventually but as of right now it only uses up to FSR 3.1 and most games only use up to FSR 2.2. Xbox also didn't have a hardware refresh this generation like PlayStation did with the Pro so it could really benefit from a better upscaler in modern games.
So what do you guys think?
