Hi guys, got diagnosed with gastritis at the beginning of February purely based on symptoms. I had stomach pains, nausea and was struggling to eat more than a slice of toast and a banana. The first GP I saw who diagnosed me put me on 30mg of Lansoprazole for 4 weeks which helped a lot, my symptoms went down a lot and I started eating more varied food. Once I came off my PPI the nausea came back and I had a really bad stabbing pain in my stomach so I went back to the doctors. I saw a different GP this time but he recommended that I do a H Pylori test (which I've now done, just waiting for the results) and that I take another 4 weeks of Lansoprazole.

I was dreading coming off my PPI because I'd seen all the stories about people having really bad symptoms coming off theirs, but the first 2 weeks I did in preparation for the H Pylori test went by completely fine. I had barely any symptoms, and if I felt like I could be getting a bit of reflux I just took some Gaviscon and felt fine after. I'm now nearly at the end of week 3 of no PPI, but it feels like my symptoms are just getting worse. Most sources I've seen said that rebound acid symptoms start within 1-2 weeks of coming off a PPI and I suppose everyone has different reactions to these medicines, but I was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.

If it's not rebound acid, the only other thing I think it could be without doing tests is that my period should be starting soon, but the previous times my period started while having gastritis symptoms it wasn't this bad.
