I’m looking to get out of my USBAR account and stupidly did not do so before the nerf (I know, I know). I’ve been trying to figure out how to cash-out my points (149,472) and wanted to see if anyone here has done so with the option to transfer your points to a U.S. Bank checking or savings account at 1x cpp?
My current plan is to open a Bank Smartly Checking Account, transfer the points, then transfer the cash to my Marcus HYSA. I know the Bank Smartly Checking Account has a $12 monthly fee but the fee is waived if you also have a Bank Smartly VISA Card. After transferring the cash I would do a product change to the Bank Smartly VISA to maintain the credit history and then just stuff the card in a desk drawer.
Is this a needlessly roundabout way of cashing out points and getting away from this stupid card? Has anyone else done this with success?
