Hello,

I have been recording with my Canon G30 hi8 and until now I always stayed analogue. I connected my cam to the vcr and recorded my tapes in VHS.

Recently I wanted to start digitizing my movies, so I got a £10 AV to HDMI adapter for the tv, and couldn't make it work. The tv started flashing between AV and SD channels so image never showed.

I returned that and got a video capture thingy, also £10 S-Video and RCA to USB. I tried both my original C-250 AV video, and using a S-150 S-Video cable, but in both cases the image did show intermittently on the OBS software, flashing in and out, maybe I got to see a few seconds of a 5 minute footage, and most of the time it had severe colour aberration...

I returned the av to usb capture thingy too.

I don't know what to do or what to use... I am completely clueless about this digitizing tech, so if you could share some advice or recommendations, I'd be grateful. I've watched some YouTube videos about it, but doing what they did, I didn't get the same results. The footage looks perfect and clear if I watch it on my camera in play mode, or in the VCR.
