Hi friends!!
I just got home from my first colonoscopy!! I was SO beyond nervous going in there but wow that was awesome! I decided to share my story here bc I read so many others due to nerves and wanted to contribute.

It’s true - the prep is 1000% the worst part. I used the miralax/ ducolax split prep because of my gastroparesis and IBS-C. I hadn’t eaten solid food for 55 hours and honestly that was the worst part. The poops weren’t too bad but I empty out quickly anyways due to the medicine I’m on for my gastroparesis, the not eating was my least favorite part other than going to the bathroom every 10 minutes (and trusting a fart when I shouldn’t of lol). All I wanted for 3 days was some saltine crackers but had jello instead lol! My last time going under I had a HORRIBLE reaction to the anesthesia and I was so nervous going into this. I got my IV put in and then wheeled back into the procedure room, they explained what was going to happen and then started the propofol which didn’t hurt going in but I did get a weird taste in my mouth, my eyes got heavy and I was OUT, then my mom woke me up in recovery!! Propofol was SO different! I was dizzy waking up but I think it was because of not eating for a few days. It’s about 2 hours after my colonoscopy and I’m feeling 100% normal minus some intestinal cramping from the gas. If you’re nervous - don’t be. I’m a hypochondriac and severely emetophobic… if I can do it, you can too.

It saves lives!!! Happy poopin! 💩
