Looking / Kap

Hi everyone - I know this may be a big reach but I’m looking to reconnect with some people who live in Haiti.

I visited Haiti on a mission trip way back in 2013. It was a transformative experience; I not only learned about the beautiful country and how rich Haitian culture is, but I got a first hand awakening at how different life is outside of the U.S.A.

I went with a group under Truth Evangelistic Ministries, but no longer have any contacts there. We stayed in Z’Orange / Zoranje & most of the trip was centered around that mountainous area. I was 21 years old & the youngest of our group, so I naturally formed a closer bond with the teens/young adults. I felt like we were the Rat Pack for a week 🤣

If you recognize anyone in these photos, or know some in Z’Orange / Zoranje, please PM me. I’d really like to reconnect with any of them. Thank you! 🙏🏾

I (33M) am moving from ATL to NYC, & before I start the real hunt, I need some help figuring out what neighborhood would likely suit me.

I work in marketing for an apparel company, write & am ambivertly social. I work hybrid but when I’m in office, I’ll be commuting to SoHo. I like good food (we can be Beli friends haha) & a nice cocktail bar. I enjoy films, art exhibitions, green space, and exploring.

Ideally, I’d like a stylish (but not try hard) neighborhood that feels alive but not chaotic, has community & diversity, is chic & fun (or at the least, closely accessible). I have no interest in being the only person of color on my block/in my building. I’d like to near multiple train lines, but also don’t mind a walk. Walking home at night should be comfortable, not worrisome. Nice-to-haves: roof access. & some character! Nothing soulless.

For the building/unit, I’m looking for: elevator, a lot of natural light and/or large windows, a package room and/or secure delivery, laundry in-building or at least close by

Non-negotiable: I like to cook, so can’t do a tiny kitchen. Need space for glassware, storage, etc.

That being said, I’ve heard of Fort Greene & DUMBO in Brooklyn, and Harlem in Manhattan, so those areas I’m already looking in, but absolutely welcome input (certain buildings, neighborhood insight, etc.). For Brooklyn, I’m looking for a 1/1ba or 1/2ba in a building with a doorman. For Manhattan, I’m open, as I’m know a good unit can come in many forms.

All input is welcome as I’m moving rather quickly too; at the very latest hope to have a lease signed by June 15.

Thanks in advance & can’t wait to be ya neighbor! 😵‍💫🗽
