What trade (if singular) can design and advise on all aspects of building a pergola/garden in current outdoor area?
Our house has a little courtyard area, decent little size to have a BBQ/sit outside and have a beer, but we had to cut the large trees down when we bought as they we're growing under the pavers and were going to cause issues.
I would love a garden shed, some kind of roof (thinking manually opening louvres), and use the 5foot high brick wall as one "wall" and have the pull down shades to block the weather as needed (they'd only have to pull down a teeny bit to be enough to rest on the current wall).
We also want to jam in as much greenery as practical but need to be low maintenance and drought tolerant as A)it's hot and b) it only really gets midday sun as it is due to orientation of the house/back area.
Problem is - I don't know who to speak to? I know I need to seek council approval and maybe building approval, and we're part of a private Strata so I need to get it past them (it should make the whole property look nicer from the road so they're in favour, I am the front house, and I've already discussed it.
I also dont know what needs to be done about storm water and drainage with more roof area, and what people do about having an area for a bbq (currently it just smoke's the shit out of the backyard so rules out the concept of hanging out washing at the same time - oh, yeah, I need a washing line mounted off the wall too).
So I'm just wondering - where do I start?
