Mastectomy and Reconstruction Results

Back in February I was diagnosed with Grade 3 IDC, HR+ HER2 -. At the time it was just one lump but they found 2 more after the mammogram, biopsied them, one came back as cancer (but HER2+), the other one just came back as "suspicious".

However I had initially chosen a lumpectomy so my surgeon wanted me to get the suspicious bit re-biopsied because he felt if they went deeper it would absolutely be cancerous and then it would be 3 bits getting removed. I went in for that biopsy yesterday but ended up not getting it done because actually there are another TWO small areas that look (to the consultant radiographer) like cancer.

Long story short instead of going ahead with yet more biopsies I think I've settled on a mastectomy.

My query is - do I go for a single or a double? It's worth noting I can't get an immediate reconstruction (unless it's implants which I don't want) because of my BMI so I'd have to get the mastectomy and try to lose 2st before they'd even consider getting me back in. I'm just slightly worried about getting the single and when it came to the reconstruction it wouldn't look symmetrical to my other one.

Has anyone had a single mastectomy with delayed reconstruction where they managed to match the existing breast? Or should I just get them both off and get a double reconstruction so they're both the same? It's such a big decision, I have E cups so it would be a massive change to get them both removed!

Also what's the recovery like for both the mastectomy and the reconstruction?

Thanks in advance and apologies for the novel!
