Why do men want biological kids?

This is not to hate on fathers, but to hear their perspective.

Men who want/have kids, I assume you want/have them with a woman that you love, so why would you ever want her to sacrifice her health (more likely than not) and endure the horrors that are pregnancy and childbirth? Even assuming she wants to, wouldn’t you still be averse to the idea or making somebody you love suffer… especially this much? If you had kids, did you not feel guilty for causing the mother of your child all the health issues that come with it? Is it something you just never consider/ignore because of the biological urge to have kids?

Wouldn’t adoption be a more rational choice, no matter how hard it is and how long it takes? Wouldn’t you be willing to spend that time to prevent your partner’s suffering?

Obviously, the question ‘why do women want biological kids if it causes them all that suffering?’ is from a similar boat, but the difference is that they only sacrifice themselves, as opposed to somebody they love.
