Had my airbag light come on so I took it to my local Honda dealer. They did a scan and got error code 12-10 "open or increased resistance in the right front airbag first inflator"

The dealer has recommended replacing the steering wheel airbag and quoted me $1800 for parts and labour. But could it be anything else (i.e. clock spring)?

I've seen on eBay you can buy a 2nd hand steering wheel airbag for as little as $100.

How difficult would it be to swap out the airbag and clear the error codes myself (or swapping out the whole steering wheel)?

Or is there an alternative that doesn't require replacing the airbag altogether?
