Slightly upgraded my PC from last year and used this as an excuse to take a few fancy photos, but not too many as I haven't yet cleaned everything.

  • Minisforum BD970iX3D with (newly installed) Noctua A14 fan
  • 2x32GB 5600MT
  • XFX Swift 9060 XT 16GB
  • Samsung SSD in one slot, USB3.2/E-key adapter in the other
  • Corsair SF1000L with Ray's cables
  • Fractal Terra

I am generally satisfied with this PC, it performs very well and is barely audible now that I've mounted a new, larger, fan onto the CPU heatsink. Having said that, it has a number of issues which I must mention for anyone wanting to take inspiration from it.

  1. The total height of the CPU and GPU coolers in my setup is around 110mm, which is too high for the Terra. I had initially wanted to use my old single-slot Radeon W6600 in this build, but multiple Minisforum boards I've tried simply do not work with that card. I thus bought the 9060, which is over double the thickness. This would've been solved somewhat by a 15mm-tall CPU fan, but I had a 120x25mm at the time, and Noctua doesn't seem to make 140x15mm at the moment.
  2. The 140mm fan interferes with the IO shield and rear of the case. A 120mm fan of course does not have this issue, but I wanted a 140mm fan. On the opposite end of the case, the GPU interferes with the side panel's release lever. I fixed this by trimming off about half of the lever. Other cards or even other 9060 models may not have this issue, but I only have this one.
  3. SFX-L power supplies technically fit, but barely, and there's effectively no room for the bottom fan with one of them. With time, I'll save up for a high-power standard SFX PSU, but right now cable management isn't.
  4. Finally, the Terra just doesn't seem to be a very well built case. The looks and finish is great, but fit is not - out of the box, there were gaps between some parts, and some parts had to be forced together to fit properly.

No cats as I live alone in a small apartment, but there's a bonus photo of my parents' noodle.
