So last night I went to a theatrical showing of the 1968 Steve McQueen film, [Bullitt](https://youtu.be/BsvD806qNM8?si=dDnW5fBQpiE3GOLI). It is famous for having probably the single most important car chase in cinematic history, forever defining how car chases should and would be filmed and edited. And seeing that chase on the big screen ruled. But the rest of the film is also really good! It's a tight, smart police procedural thriller, incredibly methodical, even the chases usually start in a slow, cat and mouse ways before exploding. The score is awesome by the legend Lalo Schifrin, Steve McQueen is peak 60s cool, Robert Vaughn is amazingly slimy as a two faced politician, and the airport finale absolutely inspired Michael Mann's Heat. Great stuff but basically people only ever discuss the rightfully amazing car chase. Any other examples?
