>!!<You know, one of the things I liked most about the movie was the dynamic Yoshi was shown throughout.
Let's be honest, in the games, since Yoshi's first appearance in Super Mario World, Yoshi was more like a power-up that we used, not just to eat enemies and use his abilities. If an enemy hit Mario, or Luigi riding Yoshi, the damage would go to Yoshi, but he would run away. He could only be calmed down if Mario or Luigi (depending on who you were using) mounted him again, allowing you to rely on him once more. And it wasn't just his abilities; if you, the player, were about to fall into the void while riding Yoshi, you could jump off to save yourself. But that would mean sacrificing an adorable creature like Yoshi, and that's cruel (of course, but some players don't do that).
After Super Mario World, in other games where Yoshi appears, like Super Mario Galaxy 2, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, etc., the gameplay doesn't change much: you ride him, eat enemies, etc.
But in this Super Mario Galaxy movie, Yoshi's personality was much more pronounced than in the games. He's shown as playful, brave when the situation calls for it, supportive, and having a loyal relationship with the Mario brothers.
I'm a Mario fan, but Yoshi is also one of my favorite characters in the Mario series, so I can only say that I was satisfied with what I saw of Yoshi in this movie. What about you? What else did you like about the movie?>!!<
