I recently got a hold of iMac 11,1. the thing is ancient but has OK specs for web browsing for my father and a 27 in screen: 16gb of ddr3 ram, 1TB SSD, i5 3.4GHz . my issue is that the system is so incredibly old that the GPU it comes with is not supported by the most recent version of linux. gippity is telling me to downgrade to ubuntu 20.04 but i want a second opinion.

i am willing to downgrade to ubuntu 18 or even 16 if need be just as log as the OS supports that archaic card.

should i waste time on ubuntu 20 or try 18 right away?
