During the time I lived in Japan, I was able to integrate into the car community. I made many new friends and connections that made me live through my wildest dreams.

One of my favorite memories of Japan were the late night drifting sessions through the mountains. I’m glad I got to experience and hope to get to do it again someday.

Here is one of many clips I wanted to share.

The driver was the group leader (funny that they have groups/teams irl like in initialD). He has been drifting this particular course for over 20 years with no accident. He’s 40/50ish years old and still goes drifting up in the mountains almost every week.

Probably the craziest drift car during my time in Japan

Toyota Cresta with a tuned, 520hp, single turbo 1JZ engine. I took these pictures at Tsukuba gymkhana.

The owner himself (Hayasama) is a well known street drifter occasionally seen at Oi-wharf.

The hardcut rev limiter combined with a straight piped exhaust sounds heavenly.
