Looking for a printer primarily for photo and image printing, but will also print documents on typical copy paper. I'm an amature photographer, collage artist and college student, so content will vary. Mostly prints on glossy photo paper, small images to cut and paste on thicker(?) paper, and typical documents on copy paper.

After lurking here, I ended up looking at the Canon PIXMA series. I'm also open to Brother or Epson, but no HP. Considering Canon PIXMA TS8820 and Canon PIXMA TS9520a.

  • Budget: No more than ~$350, but my family is paying for it as a birthday gift so I don't need the cheapest one.
  • Country: USA
  • Color or black and white: Color
  • Laser or ink printer: Ink perfered
  • New or used: New
  • Multi-function: Needs copying and flatbed scanning
  • Duplex Printing: Not required
  • Home or business: Home
  • Printing content: Color-accurate HQ pictures, text documents
  • Printing frequency: Varies, but at least once a month
  • Pages per minute: Doesn't matter as most jobs will be about 5 pages.
  • Page size: Letter or legal
  • Device printing from: Windows 11 laptop (minimum), iPad and Andorid phone (optional)
  • Connection type: USB and wifi, SD optional

Smaller size is better! While I want color accuracy, it's fine if they're a little off. User-serviceable printheads and affordable OEM ink are a huge plus.

Thank you! Please let me know if there's anything else I should be on the lookout for.
