So after several other tree guys being flaky, or lift breaking down I made a post on local Facebook , a contractor came out and looked at the trees I had posted about. Two trees clearly marked and on the property line. These were to be removed. He asked about a 3rd tree with branches draping over upstairs door of detached garage. I loved opening door and standing there with leaves shielding me from sun and sight from house , I told him I loved these. He sent his workers out that evening. 3 people show up and now think they did not understand English at all :-(. I touched the trees to remove , pointed at the paint

Well they hacked off. Not even neatly trimmed the branches off the tree I love. I know they hung over the roof and I was fine with it. Now it’s hacked back 8-10 feet. I have ignored his call and asked for the invoice and statement why the hacked my tree up , I will send the invoice to the other property owner to pay half (cause they did that part). But so far withholding my half ( we had no written contact , stupid me trusting people ). Schedule a certified arborist to come out next Monday ..,

How hard should I fight this , it will take years to get back what I lost from those branches
