Haters don’t want us to win the PL, CL because it changes the narrative

For more than 20 years the going story is Arsenal are soft. They play beautiful and are easy on the eyes, but they lack the killer instinct to win a major title. They get pushed around too easily, they crumble under pressure. They are bottlers.

And for 20 years, that narrative has proven true time and time again. Late season collapses, runs of 5 games where we couldn’t find a goal in the middle of winter. Untimely injuries to critical players who weren’t tough enough to stay fit.

And for fans of other teams, it’s nice knowing that despite the fact that your own team doesn’t always win, at least they can point and laugh and the chokers over at Arsenal. Those wimpy foreigners with their posh fans from London. Meanwhile the real steel of football is forged up north, from the working class, who’ve got the passion and zest for true British football. Arsenal and all their foreign nonsense, playing too fancy under Wenger, just aren’t tough enough.

If Arsenal wins a major title this year, playing the hard nosed brand of football that Arteta has brought, the narrative collapses. Thus the new argument that Arsenal plays crap football, gets the lucky breaks from VAR, etc, is the defense mechanism to this shift. Ok, maybe you won a title, but you looked crap doing it and your brand of football isn’t fun to the casual observer. And you over celebrate! Thus, you aren’t worthy of a championship. It’s a desperate attempt to retain some pathetic form of the old narrative in spite of the fact that this Arsenal team is shedding the old narrative. I say, let em whine! Let’s enjoy it, celebrate to the nines, and flash a mighty middle finger to the rest of the league. Let’s keep winning, however it looks. Just win!!

Help me decide

Going to the Grand Canyon in a couple weeks and considering some binoculars to enjoy the views. I’ll be traveling by plane, so looking for something smaller, probably 8x32. I don’t want to spend a fortune on these, as I’m not planning on getting big into viewing/birdwatching, but would be nice to have a decent pair. Looking for something around $200. My initial research suggests Vortex, Opticron, and Svbony as decent brands. Any recommendations?
