I have always been a keen fisherman, about 5 years ago I gave away boat fishing as a big day out with the nearly constant west coast chop and wind would really take it out of me and leave me stuffed.

I figured I would get back into surf beach fishing like my younger days and have been doing that but now at 52 I’m finding a few hours on the beach added to sometimes a decent drive there and back to reach a good spot and early starts or late nights bugger me.

I’m starting to realise looking at other fishos I see and in posted pics it really does seem a younger man’s game and I’m realising why.

Not a lament really, just a shared thought and wondered how many other people dropped away in the start of their more advanced years, I know I could sit on a river bank with a handline ok but more thinking about the boating and more active beach or rock fishing.
When I think about it it’s kind of like hitting that point where you stop playing a sport or something.

I have done quite a few bags now and the majority seem to start strongly with good colonisation, but often after a break and shake it will keep colonising but leave a lot of grain seemingly untouched.

Why would this be? I use a Still air box and clean technique then put in a box with some air flow at 24 degrees.
