Male, 24, inflammatory acne (?)
Hi!
Just looking for some help or a push in the right direction for advice / product / treatment.
Bit of a backstory, I have had acne for around 10 years of my life, and had tried different methods of treatment (doxycycline, lymecycline, epiduo). Whilst they proved to work for a short period of time, when I’d come off the tablets, my skin would flare up again, with redness being persistent and tricky to get rid of.
It’s worth noting now that it’s not painful (apart from that one rare spot that came out of nowhere), and I only tend to get small whiteheads around the chin and cheek area. I never pick at my skin, and I try to avoid touching it as much as possible.
My diet is quite strict and I don’t overdo anything bad. I cut milk completely, and do want to enjoy the occasional dairy product (cheese is good, sue me). I drink alcohol around once a week, and only drink water everyday rather than anything sugary, as I have cut this out for the most part. I do use snus frequently, around a tub a day (which I know isn’t good).
My routine consists of the following:
AM:
- rinse with lukewarm water, then pat dry
- Aveeno Oat moisturiser
- Eurecin oil control spf
PM:
- cerave hydrating foam oil cleanser
- Aveeno oat cleanser
- (stated using recently, roughly once / twice a week) 20% skinoren azelaic acid (was using 10% inkey list for around a month before incorporating)
- Eurecin ultra sensitive soothing care moisturiser.
*occasional LED mask*
Whilst I definitely have seen some improvements overtime, I would like to work to get rid of redness overall, as it’s really taken a hit on my social life and I worry about prejudice from others.
I am extremely grateful for any advice or tips on how to stop the small whiteheads I get everyday, and how to stop persistent redness.
Thank you!
