My manta arrives today...and I've got a couple final questions

First of all, thanks again to everyone here who has commented and answered questions for me.

I've watched several videos and have gone through the manual and I can't really find an answer....I may just be blind at this point from trying to absorb everything and have missed it as well.

To dos....when I'm writing a note, I can lasso it and create a to do. Then there is the to do app.
I'm assuming that to do app is all encompassing? As in I have to dos in different notebooks, folders, whatever, and anything I mark as a to do shows up there? Is the to do a link as well? Can I click it and go back to that page? Or is it simple a task and if I want to go back to the page I need to use a start and look elsewhere?

Stars and headers...I plan to have a notebook per project...so as I'm writing in that book and create hearders...does that create the index for that notebook? or do those also all go to one place to sort through?

In my head, I have the setup as...

Notes folder...then notebook per project...then when you open that book you can see all my stars and headers for that notebook so I can jump around as needed.

I'll definitely be playing with it a lot when I get it and probably figure all this out, but appreciate any advice going into.

What other communities/resources are out there?

You guys have been a huge help with helping me decide to buy one, answering questions, and so on. Appreciate it. Do you all use any other communities for things like templates, tricks, tips, use examples, etc?

Right now I have here and some people on youtube I watch but youtube kinda repeats itself a lot.

How are we feeling about the new Remarkable Pure release?

I just bought a Manta and it arrives Monday, after lots of research, it seemed like the best fit. Now the Pure is out for a couple hundred dollars less. I've watched some short videos on it and one feature I love is you can now draw a line and then move everything down the page, instead of circling, so if you want to add something to your earlier notes, that's a super nice feature. Not really needed with Supernote since it's not a scrolling down page.

But it raised a question...can you insert a page on the Manta? Like if I want to go back and add something to a note and there isn't space, how do you all do that?

I bought a Manta, so I have a few days until it gets here, but I'm trying to figure out a layout so I get organized from the start.

This is the format I want....

  • Home
    • Probably some sort of structure like work just with different types of notebooks
  • Work
    • Daily Notes
      • Today
      • Tomorrow
      • etc (basically a new note for each day...like a journal)
    • Projects
      • Project 1
      • Project 2
      • etc
    • Something else I haven't thought of yet

Would home and work be folders?

For work...do I then have a sub folder for daily notes, projects, etc or can those be individual notebooks? For daily notes, each day can just be a header so I create an index in a single notebook....but for projects, I'd want a notebook for each project to keep things separated and organized.

Appreciate any insight and suggestions.

EDIT: I forgot another question...I want a notebook that just has a daily Eisenhower Matrix in it. I'd create it as a template. I assume I just create a notebook and then add the template to each new page? Is there a way to have every page in the notebook use the template by default so I don't have to do it every day. Also, is there a way to copy the previous days template so I don't have to flip back and forth to copy things over and can instead erase and add accordingly?

Right now I use a notebook and checkboxes and then have to go back through and look for open items and check them off.

I see on the manta you can do a star and various other types of headers and what not and add things to a built in to do list.

If I'm making a note and star something...it looks like the shows the whole page in my star list, or whatever they call it...is that true? That would be ideal because then it takes me back to the page with the star so I can see all the notes around it as opposed to only what the star is next to.

How does the To Do list work? I know you do the finger press, circle it, add it to the to do list....when I go view the to do list...I see it as a task there and looks like a notebook icon to the right (this is from watching a youtube video)....if I hit that notebook icon does it take me to the page where the to do was originally written?

I'm just trying to figure out how I can bounce around and see things. A to do is great, but I usually have more information behind it, so I need to be able to quickly jump to the page the to do was on.

Hi all...I can find all sorts of info on Remarkables, but I think I like the Supernote better and I'm trying to get some things figured out so I figured users are the best place to ask.

  1. Is there cloud access? As in, I write a note on my supernote, can I then go view it on my laptop?
  2. From what I can tell, there is no scrolling and no pinch/zoom? So it basically acts like physical paper?
  3. One big thing I'd use it for is writing on a template...as in I have an Eisenhower matrix I print out every week and that keeps my week organized...I'd like to do that on the supernote...so would I just open the file every week and start new? I'd also like to save previous weeks, so I'm assuming I can rename it so it has the weeks dates?
  4. Can I create my own templates and upload them as a PDF?

Of all the youtube videos I've watched it's just the same ol reviews and features...I want to see how the thing actually works.

That I'm sure have been asked before, but I see remarkable being mentioned a lot and I've always considered getting one, but I'm curious if you think it'd fit, or improve, my habbits.

Here is what I use now...

  • Asana - houses all projects and tasks and when I have meetings on the project I use the Note tab on the project to type all notes there so we keep everything organized
  • Notion - Basic references, personal wiki, organization, meeting notes outside of projects, just a general overflow of things so I can find them again later
  • Eisenhower Matrix - a modified one to my needs, but I print one every week and then fill it in, cross out, etc throughout the week...this is probably my best tool of just getting priority tasks done
  • Pen & Paper - I usually write out on a legal pad, or a scratch pad...but I'm trying to convert all that into a notebook so all my random notes are all together
  • Phone - I have a S25U, so I use the Spen a lot to take notes when I'm somewhere and didn't bring anything else

I've thought about getting a remarkable to replace my pen & paper and getting the new mini one so I'm more likely to carry it around and less likely to rely on my phone and then have to go transfer those notes somewhere else.

It'd only be a big benefit if I could also have my Eisenhower matrix on there and started a new one every week and treat it just like I do my print out. A bonus here would be keeping all my previous ones. I'm assuming I can simple have a folder of eisenhower's where each file is the week?

Outside of that, my biggest issue is typically making sure my notes, which will always end up containing or creating some kind of task(s), get to where they need to be...i.e. asana or my Eisenhower...and I assume I run into the same issue as pen and paper where that's a manual effort to do so...unless Remarkable has some function that can summarize your notes and create a task list or something?

What I had thought about doing with Notion was creating a journal database where every entry was a day and then I could go back and search things...a little easier than flipping through a notebook...but writing things out also helps me a lot.

So you Remarkable power users...do you see where it could be a benefit to me? Suggestions on tweaks or examples of what you do to make a benefit? Or is it just an expensive notebook in the long run for what I'm going.

I would like to be 100% digital, but I like writing as it burns it into my brain more, gadgets are fun but a single source, or limited sources, are better...but I do like where remarkable syncs to the cloud so it becomes part of my PC access in the long run.

Appreciate any thoughts and insight.
