Crocheters first time weaving! Very basic hand loom, simple weave. I used cotton thread for warp and a regular acrylic medium weight yarn for weaving with (weft?) As you can see, im using a shuttle for a shed stick. Also, there was a tension issue on the left side that im trying to address. This was my first attempt, and my tension has slowly been improving on more practice pieces.
Questions:
im using a large wooden needle instead of a shuttle bc i found the shuttle was way too chunky (when wrapped in yarn) to pass easily under my warp threads. But since im doing the needle, I have to add more yarn really often. Is there a better way to do this? 😅
Once off the loom, the fabric was really stiff and tight, like a rug, with no drape or stretch. Is this a technique issue, or because of the materials I used (the very stiff cotton string)?
Any other general tips and tricks are welcome! I've looked through the wiki, and scoured YouTube, but I find a lot of the tutorials are more advanced or for a style of weaving/loom im not set up for. Im just looking to make fabric, so things like dishtowels, curtains, etc. Thank you ❤️
