3 weeks ago, I was diagnosed with celiac disease. About a week after that, I started have horrible stomach cramps and diarrhea. I got stool tested, but by the time the results came back, I was feeling better. The results came back about 2 days ago. I had E Coli and C Diff. I’ve no diarrhea in a week and a half just about, and I’ve been taking florastor. The doc called today and sent in vancomycin, but when I told her I had no symptoms, she told me to pick up the meds but not to take them unless it comes back. Do I need to take them? Will it come back? I was extremely ill and I seriously don’t want to go through that again.

Update: my doctor called me back today, since I still have mucus in my stool, although no diarrhea, she told me to go ahead and take the antibiotic for it.

OG post^^

I originally got my iron levels tested because of a miscarriage I had. But as I was getting treated for iron deficiency anemia with slow fe, it didn’t really help. I’ve been having GI issues the entire year. Inconsistent bowel movements, nausea, abdominal pain, etc. I finally just put matters into my own hands since the GI doctor wanted to say GERD, knowing that’s not what was wrong. So, I got tested for celiac disease. Guess what, positive! I now know that my anemia is caused by a chronic illness. It just makes so much sense. And now moving forward, I know what to do. Or I know at least why. Keep pushing for your results, fellas.

Endomysial antibody test result hasn’t come back yet, been having gi issues the entirety of this year. Friend has celiac and I seemed to show the same symptoms, so i ordered the test myself and I think it’s safe to assume that I have celiac disease. Of course, I’ll get the biopsy and further testing, but in the meantime this is where I’m at. I was wondering why my anemia wasn’t getting better, why I was so deficient of Vitamins, inconsistent bowel movements, abdominal pain, nausea. It just makes so much sense and I’m so happy I seemed to have found the answer finally.
