Just because you won't bother properly engaging with the combat system doesn't mean it's mindless "hack and slash"

I've heard this criticism from turn-based combat fans where they accuse the Remake games' combat of not requiring any skill at all, to the point where you can just button mash and triumph through everything. Now, everyone who's actually played the games knows this is bullshit, with enemies like Hell House who would punish you hard if you don't go into the fight with the proper materias and Rufus who would counter your attacks if you just mindlessly attack him. Even when it comes to normal enemies, just mindlessly button mashing is far from the optimal way to play the game and just makes it tedious.

It's like playing the older games and complaining about the lack of depth and strategy when all you do is level grind, and only use Attack and healing spells against everything. As a fan of the Remakes' combat system, I hope they don't listen to these people and develop the system even further beyond just the Remake trilogy.
