stuck in between two great opportunities
hi everyone! i need help deciding between two very good internship opportunities and i have until monday to decide. here are the details about both
internship A: i received an offer from a very good record label this past week and i was so excited for it. i applied early january and didn't hear anything until late march so it genuinely came out of left field. i would be a marketing intern working on campaigns for artists specifically in the kpop space (i love kpop) so i truly felt like this was the role for me. however, after receiving my offer letter the compensation is definitely not what i was expecting and same thing for the hours as it is closer to part time. i tried to negotiate both but unfortunately they are not able to increase the wage, but i could be working more hours during a given week. ive never really wanted to work in the music industry, but since this opportunity has presented itself i could see myself being very happy doing the work because i truly do love music and concerts.
internship B: last summer i had an internship at one of the top PR firms in the world and it being my first internship, i learned so so much and made some really good connections. this company has different agencies underneath them and i saw that they were looking for interns specifically post grads (i graduate may 2026) and they pretty much align with everything i want to do career wise and would be such a great opportunity. long story short, i got a referral and my old managers put in a good word for me and i was able to have a phone interview and it went super well and i have a 2nd interview next week with the hiring managers. i don't know when specifically it is but it will be next week. the pay at this job is what im looking for and the hours are more full time which is also nice. my only fear is that since i haven't officially had my last interview yet, there is a chance i could not get it but honestly im pretty confident in my interviewing skills and my referrals.
now im in the boat of should i just take internship A since i already have the offer letter, or take a chance on myself and hold out for internship B? i've asked friends and family and pretty much everyone has been split 50/50 between the two so that hasn't been much help lol. FOR REFERENCE, BOTH of these opportunities are in NYC BUT i would not have to worry about housing since i am staying with family. any advice would help and i hope all of this makes sense 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾.
