WA state here. A couple of my friends are leaving the country for the next couple of years for work. They left me their 2 handguns for safekeeping while they’re away.

My question is, are there any ramifications about storing friend’s guns that aren’t legally mine? If they decide to permanently stay abroad, it seems like transferring ownership could be potentially really difficult. Should they transfer ownership to me now before they leave?

Edit: thank you all for your suggestions. We’ll transfer ownership as it’s the best option in this case.
