For those of you who’ve referred someone before, what was your experience like? Do referrals actually increase the chances of someone getting interviewed or hired, or does it mostly just help their application get noticed?

Also curious — does the referring employee’s performance or reputation at the company have any real impact on how seriously the referral is taken?
