Hi, if I was creating a smalti piece for a kitchen splash back or for a bathroom shower wall, would I need to grout it?

I honestly can't find a straight answer, some say no don't grout because of the holes in smalti's surface, others say grouting is fine just watch out for the holes and clean them out, other sources are like nah because the tesserae should be placed so close together.

I'm personally leaning towards yes, do it the reverse method so the surface is as flat as possible and watch out for any holes

And I seal the grout afterwards . .. ?
