I’m looking for my first gloves which will mainly be used for bag/pad work until I feel ready to spar. I am looking at Phenom and they check all the boxes - leather, short/no break in, high quality. Price wise a bit higher than I’d like but will do it if they are good.

I was ready to pull the trigger but then saw that they are based in the UK and there are tariffs and I don’t know want to return would have to send back to the UK which all seems like a lot of hassle if I don’t like them. Any advice or experience from others? I am 5’10 175lbs with 8.5” hands. I know a lot of this will come down to personal preference but looking for input if these are likely not going to be good for me. If they are good on paper I’m willing to take the chance. Thanks in advance!

I just started boxing and am looking for my first pair of boxing gloves. I’m a 175lb/5’10/male with athletic build and large hands (8.5in circumference). I’m looking for 16oz gloves with velcro. These will be used for bag/pads and eventually would like to use them for sparring.

My budget is up to $250 and I’ve been going down the rabbit hole of gloves and would like something leather with good wrist support that isn’t too tight for my hands. I’ve landed at Cleto Reyes and Casanova. Rival also seems to be good but is basically the same price as Cleto. Any thoughts on which ones would be best for me?

I’m also seeing the Casanova is sold as Necalli in the US but also see a Casanova website where they sell and ship to the US? Looks like they are $150 which is a good starting point though willing to go to $260 or so for the Reyes. Thanks!
