Hey everyone,

I had my citizenship interview on April 2nd (marriage-based, 3-year rule) in Miami. I passed both the English and civics tests, and overall the interview went very smoothly.

The only thing that came up was related to my 2023 taxes. The officer asked a few times whether the balance had been fully paid. I confirmed that it had, but I didn’t have IRS tax transcripts with me at the interview, only the returns I had originally submitted.

At the end, I received a notice saying “decision cannot be made yet,” and the officer explained that my case needs additional review. She mentioned I would either receive a decision or a request for more evidence by mail.

Since then (April 2nd), my online status hasn’t changed and still shows “interview was scheduled.”

After the interview, I checked my IRS account and everything shows as paid (zero balance), so I’m hoping it’s just a routine review - but I’m still a bit unsure what to expect.

For those who’ve had a similar experience recently: • How long did it take to get an update or final decision? • Is there any typical timeline for this kind of case?

Also, I’m planning international travel soon, so I’m trying to understand if I should expect any delays or overlap.

Would really appreciate any insights. Thanks!
