I am a boyfriend of a woman who was sexually abused when she was still a minor. Many inappropriate and abusive acts were done to her, which we prefer not to disclose in detail at this time. The perpetrator is also her godfather, and until now, some of her family members still have contact with him. Some of them are even friends with him on Facebook.

When my girlfriend tried to report what happened while she was still a minor, her older sisters did not believe her. She is now 30 years old.

I would like to ask if it is still possible to file a case against the perpetrator. What would be the proper legal process for this?

My girlfriend is still experiencing trauma because of what happened. She said that the perpetrator and the incident still feel fresh in her mind and continue to come back to her, causing her to feel hopeless and vulnerable. This has been affecting her daily life and her ability to make connection to others.

The perpetrator is still alive and is currently in his 50s. According to my girlfriend, there were also reports or talks that he may have victimized another child after her, but he has still not been held accountable. We are also concerned that he may continue to do it again to others if no action is taken.

We would appreciate your guidance on whether a case can still be filed and what steps should be taken.

Thank you.
