Resident cat and new kitten paw at the door and meow at each other - what to do?

Hi guys! I have a 2 yrs old nutuered male cat and got a week ago a 9 weeks yrs old female kitten, she (the kitten) is really confident and while I want to slowly introduce and expose her, she escaped the room 5 days ago and met the other cat. Now, there was no hissing or attacking at all, he did stand over her (she's so small compared to him that her head didn't even touch his stomach!) But she was walking around and exploring with her tail up in the air and he was sniffing her and looking really confused.

I asked is the cats discord what to do and was adviced to start intentionally introducing them in meal time which I did.

So, they met each othedaily for short, slowly increasing periods. I don't think it went too bad. However, the resident cat keeps trying to climb on top of the kitten. They also hissed at each other at the end of one sessions but later when they met again, there didn't seem to be any hostility. They still meow and paw at the door when separated, any thoughts?

Flash update: Resident cat just sneaked in, they met, he climbed on her, she turned her belly up,they ran together, turned again and then they hissed at each other, I separated them, but they both still yearn for the door to open??? literally lost here.

If it matters, both are ragdolls and are siblings.
