After Boudiaf’s death, Nezzar visited Saudi Arabia and met King Fahd.
The king strongly rejected Islamist groups, repeatedly saying “they are not المسلمين (Muslims).”
He claimed Saudi Arabia as a state did not support these groups, though some individuals abroad might.
He also recounted encounters with Algerian Islamist leaders (Madani and Belhadj), whom he dismissed and refused to support.
Nezzar says he delayed sharing this testimony to avoid fueling hostility toward Saudi Arabia.
He stresses that Saudi Arabia did not interfere in Algeria’s internal affairs during a difficult period and even considered financial support.
