IKEA Rudsta terrarium (biggest project yet)
Hey, I’m planning on making terrarium in a RUDSTA (wide). Here’s my current list of plants I plan to put inside of it aside from the mosses (flat and cushion.. only ones that I can get my hands on):
Ficus sagittata variegata
Solanum evolvulifolium
Sonerila dongii
Philodendron micans
Selaginella uncinata
Selaginella Red Ruby
Ficus quercifolia
Begonia amphioxus x malachosticta hybrid
Scindapsus pictus variegated
Peperomia Pink Lady
Marcgravia sp.
Labisia pumila
Passiflora sp.
Piper sp.
Jewel Orchid (Macodes / Ludisia) (undecided)
Pellionia repens
Sonerila sp.
Solanum uleanum
Begonia ferox (undecided)
Drosera capensis Red (for the fungus gnats that I absolutely have a hard time dealing with)
Most of these are small cuttings, I want to start small so I can get a glimpse of how everything grows in there.
I’m unsure if I’ll be adding a fan (maybe 2) or not, and if I won’t I’ll probably not use any weatherstripping so I could at least get a little air circulation.
For the lighting I plan to use two mother plant lights (16 inch)
For the general structure (will use the three walls) I will use lots of foam, aquarium silicone, fern wood panels, cork bark pieces, lots of spagnum moss, and coco coir. And maybe a large piece of driftwood, still undecided
The substrate, I haven’t decided exactly the proportion’s of the blend, but I have everything I probably need in hand.
I know it might seem that I haven’t prepared much as of now, but I don’t want to stick to a plan just yet as there’s much at play and I want to take my time to prepare everything first.
Should I worry about the air circulation, any suggestions on having the fans/ weatherstripping? I’m worried about this the most
Any additions/edits to the plant list ?
I’ll appreciate any suggestions/judgements you have on anything I’m doing, this will be a 3-6 month project for me :).
