Gym with varicose veins is dangerous ?
Hello everyone,
I am 26 years old and unfortunately I have had two varicose vein surgeries in the past—one on my left leg and one on my right leg. My doctor said there is about a 10% chance of recurrence, but it also strongly depends on genetics.
Sadly, about 2–3 years after the surgeries, I started to notice that a few small veins are becoming visible and slightly bulging again in some areas of my legs. I’ve heard from several people that these surgeries are mostly cosmetic, and that the tendency for varicose veins remains even after the procedure. Because of this, I decided that I don’t want to undergo another surgery.
Instead, I plan to introduce some lifestyle changes that could help support my veins, such as:
using creams for varicose veins
taking medication or supplements that improve blood circulation
alternating hot and cold showers on my legs
using a stationary bike
My question is: is there anyone here who has similar varicose vein issues but still goes to the gym?
I would like to start working out, but only focusing on my upper body. For my legs, I would only use a stationary bike and avoid weight training. For upper body exercises, I would train seated and mainly use machines.
At the same time, I would like to gain weight—around +10 kg.
What do you think? Would this be too risky? Is there anyone with similar experiences?
At the moment, I don’t have significant pain in my legs, and I also wear compression stockings regularly.
