Leaning too forward

Tips or drills to work on the following:

I’m leaning too far forward when sparring with a high guard, which is causing me to reach and overextend my punches. It’s also leaving my sides exposed and preventing me from really sitting down on my punches.

My old gym, where I first learned how to box, had pretty intense classes that varied day to day. We usually only did mitts once or twice a week, with sparring about two days a week as well.but coach would change up what we would do and work on.

At my new gym, they do mitts every day. Yesterday’s class was about 6 minutes of jump rope, 3 rounds on the heavy bag, and then the rest of the class was just mitt work.but that’s everyday

I’m trying to figure out how to get the most out of hitting mitts. At my old gym, it felt like I was being trained and prepared to actually fight. At this new one, just feel like I am going to get good at mitt work.

Any tips or advice to get the most out of it? Let me know if I am just complaining and most gyms are like this.
