Hey everyone,

Thank you all for your replies on my last post; it really helped me act quickly instead of just waiting around for the police.

A bit of context: I’m in southern Germany (Bavaria), about 60 km from Munich, in a small town where a lot of people use e-bikes daily.

On Friday evening around 19:00, I parked my Segway at the train station while going to work, where there are usually many bicycles and a few scooters parked. When I returned on Saturday at 7:00 am, I found the lock had been cut (Scooter parked overnight but I have been doing that for ~1 year). I immediately filed a police report. They noted the last Find My location and asked me to inform them if anything changed.

Yesterday, a new location appeared about 12 km away, on a remote road (picture 1) in the middle of a wooded area about which I made the earlier post. I informed the police right away, but they weren’t expecting much. I also thought it could just be a passing signal or that the thief had dumped part of the scooter.

Still, I decided to check it out myself. After searching the area for about 20 minutes and repeatedly trying to trigger the sound (ping), I finally heard it coming from uphill in a wooded area (picture 2). Since it was getting dark, I didn’t go further in and instead took some photos and left.

This morning at 7:00 am, I went back to the police station, explained everything, and asked them to come with me. When we checked the location together, we found three vehicles in total hidden under trees and bushes, including my scooter.

I haven’t gotten it back yet ; the police have taken everything for evidence. They want to check for fingerprints and DNA. They didn’t remove the cover at the scene, but from what I could see, the scooter looked intact and all parts seemed to be there.

Thanks again to everyone who shared advice it genuinely made a difference.

Hey everyone,

My Segway got stolen last night in Germany. It was locked, but the lock was cut.

The scooter is connected to Apple’s Find My network, and I’ve already marked it as lost and enabled contact info. I’ve also filed a police report, but so far they haven’t found anything.

Right now I’m trying to understand how useful Find My actually is in this situation. Initially, it was only showing the last location from about 8 hours ago. However, after marking it as lost, the location updated a few minutes ago and now shows it about 12 km away from where it was last seen.

Should I inform the police about this new location?

Thanks for any advice.
