Looking for a new Garmin, newest series or not?

Hi all,

I've been looking for a new smartwatch. Long-long time ago I had a forerunner 35 to get used to a watch. After that, I switches to an Apple Watch series 7, which is really at the end of its life (barely getting a days worth of battery out of it). Because I'm not using all the functions of Apple Watch and I really want multiple days worth of battery, I'm going back to Garmin.

I have the following expectations:

  1. I will be wearing the watch full-time (both in my free time and during work)
  2. Sleep- and daily exercise tracking (but I think all smartwatches are capable of that nowadays)
  3. I work in an office
  4. Would love to get at least 4 years worth of use out of it
  5. Multiple day battery-life (for the first couple of years, think at least a week)
  6. Prefer AMOLED with always on display (no solar screen needed)
  7. In my spare time I love to hike
  8. During hikes, at least a days worth of GPS tracking (12h)
  9. During holidays I often do multiple-day hikes, varying from 3 days to 10 days (I can charge, but want to minimize it), including camping
  10. I would like to eventually start running, but no other sports are on my mind right now

I've been thinking about a forerunner again, but I'm not sure which to get. From the newest series, the 165 is probably good enough for my use. But, I think I would prefer the 570 with size of 47mm.

However, than there are the previous series like the 265 and 965, which are cheaper than the current line-up. Because of this, I can get the 965 with the maps for instance. I don't need it per se, but it is a nice to have. I think that the fēnix is above my typical use (and budget).

So, what would you recommend for about €500 for daily use and the regular outdoor walk, cycling and (multiple days) hike. I'm from the Netherlands if that helps.
