How do you think the Omnitrix handles transformations for a species that develops powers at random times in development?

Since the Omnitrix turns you into a version of the species at the same age as you, how do you think that would work for a species like the Viltrumites, who can develop powers anywhere from very young (5 years old, most of the Viltrumite children in the comics got powers this young) to almost an adult (17 years old, Mark a very late bloomer)?

Do you think it would just depend on the sample? like if Mark was scanned, would the transformation not have any powers until Ben reached the age mark developed powers?
