Hi,

It's some trouble getting the game to work; especially on linux, so I thought to make a guide for that.

This is intended to be a "I just want to play pvz fusion, bruh, I don't care about it being a bit jank" type of guide, so if you expect me to have a custom launcher or something for it, then this ain't the place lol. I play the game like this regularly, and the only issue I have is reset progress from a new version release, but there's a "complete everything" tab for that anyway.

I'm writing this on Fedora 43, kernel 6.19.12, and an AMD gpu; for reference.

Lutris script method:

Check the lutris website to see if it has an installer script for the version you want. You can then either download it that way or through lutris itself. You should probably have lutris already if you're on linux and game.

Pros:
-Easy, and works.
-Saves your progress on lutris.

Cons:
-Doesn't get the latest releases right away, as I don't manage the scripts on the site, and I don't know how lol.

If that doesn't work, then there is another way I got it to work through researching.

Step 1.

Download the version you want from the official Github page of the Multilang translation (it's good, trust me): Yowza!

Step 2.

Install it through lutris, using the "windows game through executable" option. It might work with "locally installed", but it isn't like you can't pick the former on the same page.

For wine version, I'd recommend Proton CachyOS, as it's the goat for gaming. Everything works with it in my experience; though feel free to try other ones out. It won't break, lol.

Now it should show up in lutris. Cool.

Step 3.

The game should work now upon launch! Yippee! But it's probably not in your preferred language at the moment, so we have some work to do to make it use the right version if so.

Bring up the configure tab for your instance of pvz fusion that has appeared, and go to runner options. We will need to scroll down to "DLL overrides" to see a table of contents looking thing. Click "add" so a new value gets brought up.

Treat this like a spreadsheet and double click the rectangle under "Key". You will now be able to input text, and you will want to type VERSION.

Next up: double click the rectangle under "Value", and input n,b.

Now, you should be able to click save at the top, and the game will run in english (:

Epilogue.

Feel free to ask me any questions in the comments. I may not be able to solve your problem as I'm just an idiot who has congealed this guide off various sources and looking things up to make the game run, and not someone who actually *knows* what this does, but I'm not... dumb.
