How do you get over having rehomed a dog?
Three years ago I got a dog but I rehomed her because I got very overwhelmed two weeks into having her ("puppy blues" according to some people, but I didn't know that was a thing at the time. I had dogs growing up, I didn't understand why I'd be overwhelmed suddenly). It was not a smart idea to get her to begin with given our small apartment with no garden and the fact that we were not doing well financially. I got pictures from the new owner even which I requested - she's so much happier where she lives now and I'm happy for her.
It was logically speaking the best decision I could have made for her but to this day I feel an inconsolable heartache because of it. Three years later I'm still crying.
Has anyone here rehomed a dog? How did you get over it? How do I let it go?
