Hi, so I would like to know, if you were in my situation, whether you would launch a complaint.
I submitted a manuscript in the middle of June of 2025. The paper underwent all the usual formatting checks then was sent off for peer review. The peer review recommendations were received by the handling editor at the end of July. Their editorial decision, despite us sending a polite follow up email was not made until mid November, despite the system saying they have the reports and everything. Once they then sent the manuscript back to us, within three days we had managed to revise the paper and submitted back to them. The paper then sat and has not been sent for re-review between the end of November and the end of April. It’s only now after we followed up for the third time that they’re attempting to invite new reviewers. So now we have to wait god knows how long for the review and then again for them to give us the final verdict.
Now this is just a small medical case report and it should’ve been dealt with one way or another months ago in my opinion. But I wanted to know what your experiences are and whether I’m potentially overreacting?
