Hi new friends,
My border collie best friend turned 15 in March. I am seeking the feedback of all those wiser than I am, who are used to the eyes that track your every movement even when they’re supposedly at rest. My sweet son is in his last days, having run and hiked and fetched a frisbee until his body could do no more. I administer everything gently, and these days a gentle toss of a tennis ball is the most he can fetch. My question is this: how do you show your brilliant dog how much you love them in the very late stages of their life? How do you show a clever dog what they mean to you? My son was never one for kisses but does love a good scratch around his neck. He seems bewildered at his slow but steady physical decline (aren’t we all). I just want him to know he’s loved.
