Hello Everyone!

I am trying to lease a shop in cites like; prosper, Celina, the colony or Plano..
This would be my fourth active shop.

Sq:750-1500

Trying this for the first time to post something like on Reddit, never disappointed w the community here, maybe the would be more straight forward, as I am looking to lease a space very soon.

Please feel free to dm or discuss below
Thank you for your suggestions!

Hey everyone,

I’m in Houston and looking to connect with people interested in AI agents, automation, Hermes, OpenClaw, VPS/local setups, and new AI tools.

The idea is to form a small group where we can help each other troubleshoot, share knowledge, stay updated, and maybe work on small projects together. We can also meet up for dinner sometimes and talk through ideas in person.

No need to be an expert — just interested and willing to learn.

If you’re in Houston or nearby, comment or DM me.

I’m continuing my journey of trying to build a self-hosted “AI employee,” but I’m not very technical, so I’m trying to find the smartest way to get everything set up correctly.

I’m considering getting one month of a cloud AI API / agent tool and using it to help me set everything up — specifically:

- Installing and configuring my VPS

- Setting up Hermes + OpenClaw

- Connecting everything (Ollama, models, memory, etc.)

- Making sure the environment is stable and working properly

My idea is basically:

→ Let the AI control my Mac (or guide it closely)

→ SSH into my VPS

→ Install and configure everything step by step

→ I just provide the stack and instructions

Then after everything is set up, I would:

- Stop using the cloud API completely

- Run everything locally on my VPS (no ongoing API costs)

---

My questions:

  1. Is this a smart shortcut, or am I introducing more risk than benefit?

  2. Is it realistic to let an AI agent control or heavily guide my terminal/VPS setup, or will it likely break things?

  3. Are there security risks with letting an AI interact with my system (SSH, keys, etc.)?

  4. Would I actually save time, or end up debugging even more issues later?

  5. Is there a better approach for a non-technical person trying to set this up correctly the first time?

---

I’m mainly trying to avoid:

- messing up my environment

- choosing the wrong setup early

- spending weeks fixing mistakes later

But I’m not sure if this approach is clever… or just a bad idea 😅

Would really appreciate honest feedback from people who’ve tried similar setups or used AI agents for system configuration.

Thanks 🙏

I’ve been doing a lot of research trying to build what I’d call an “ultimate free AI employee.” I’m not very technical, so before I start setting everything up, I wanted to validate my roadmap with people who actually have experience in this space.

My goal is to build a self-hosted AI system that can handle multi-step tasks, automation, and even potentially help build applications. I’m trying to keep everything completely free and open-source — the only cost I’m okay with is the VPS. And I’ve been reading a lot about open claw and her meds and I was thinking why not just have them both together.

Context:

- Hosting everything on a VPS with 32 GB RAM

- Want multi-agent workflows + long-term memory + automation

- Goal is minimal ongoing cost (no paid APIs if possible)

---

Here’s the stack I came up with (install order):

- Gateway: OpenClaw (front-end / routing layer)

- Agent: Hermes (self-learning agent)

- Model runtime: Ollama

- Models:

- Qwen 3.6 (general reasoning)

- Code Llama (coding tasks)

- Memory: Qdrant (vector DB)

- Orchestration: LangChain

- Task automation: Celery

- Monitoring: Prometheus + Grafana

- Alerts: Discord webhooks

- Resilience: retry logic (Tenacity, circuit breaker pattern)

(Full breakdown below if you want details 👇)

My questions:

  1. Is this architecture even realistic, or am I overcomplicating things for a first build?

  2. Will 32GB RAM be enough to run Ollama + models + vector DB + agents + background jobs?

  3. Is it actually possible to keep this “mostly free,” or will I hit hidden costs (compute limits, performance issues, etc.)?

  4. Are tools like OpenClaw + Hermes + LangChain overlapping too much?

  5. Am I missing any critical components (or adding unnecessary ones)?

  6. Realistically, can a setup like this handle complex tasks like building applications, or is that too ambitious for a local/self-hosted system?

---

I’d really appreciate honest feedback — even if the answer is “this won’t work the way you think.” I’m trying to learn and avoid wasting time going in the wrong direction.

Thanks in advance 🙏
