Matrikulasi or PASUM — which pathway is better for overseas scholarships/studying abroad later on?

Hi, I’m currently deciding between Matrikulasi and PASUM/UM Asasi Life Science.

One thing I’ve been thinking about recently is the possibility of studying abroad in the future, especially if I end up applying for scholarships after pre-u.

I’m still unsure about my future degree (currently considering things like actuarial science, medicine, law, biomedical engineering etc), so I’m trying to understand which pathway would give better opportunities or flexibility later on.

For those who went through Matrik or PASUM:
- Is one pathway generally more recognised for overseas applications/scholarships?
- Are there scholarships that can still be applied for after pre-u?
- Would choosing PASUM make it harder to pivot towards overseas opportunities later?

Would really appreciate any advice or personal experiences 🙏 I’ll genuinely read and appreciate every reply, so please feel free to share anything that might help 😭🫶🏻

Hi, I need some advice on choosing between matrikulasi (KPM) and UM Asasi Life Sciences.

I’m a bumi student and I might be able to get into University of Malaya Asasi, but I’m not 100% sure if my results are strong enough yet.

I’m also quite unsure about what I want to study in the future. Right now I’m considering a few very different options like actuarial science, medicine, law, or even biomedical engineering, so I’m still exploring.

From what I understand:
UM Asasi is more challenging but gives a more direct pathway (especially into UM)

Matrikulasi is relatively easier to score but getting competitive courses through UPU might be harder

So I’m stuck between:
Choosing a safer path (matrikulasi – more flexibility and higher chance of good CGPA)

Choosing a more direct but riskier path (UM Asasi – harder, but better university prospects)

I’d really appreciate any advice, even if it’s just your personal experience or opinion. If you’ve gone through either path, how did it turn out for you?
Thank you!🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
