My elderly friend's bedroom wall took in water during a recent storm. She had a builder come out and look at it, they put a heating fan on it and put a large dehumidifier into her room emptying into a garbage can.

She cannot remember the other instructions, but her room is getting quite hot. Can she safely open a window and/or turn on her air conditioner? For the window I'm concerned the cooler air might still be more humid than her room. For the AC, it seems like it would still keep the humidity down
